Is Fantasy Sports Betting About To Get A Lot More Regulated?

Online fantasy sports sites DraftKings and FanDuel have been served cease-and-desists letters from NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, asking them to stop taking bets from New Yorkers. The move brings into question the billion dollar industry’s ability to regulate their service, which they have argued should be less regulated due to their participants ability to win money based on skill. An investigation into the online betting sites was brought to light earlier this year after a DraftKings worker accessed confidential insider data and used it to win thousands on FanDuel. Jose Marcelino Ortiz and Nik Zecevic discuss the sites and what this could mean for the future of online gambling regulation on The Lip News.
