I did a one day seminar for the folks with Last Chance Animal Rescue and showed my REAL WORLD training techniques and shared my philosophy with the volunteers and staff. Every dog came to me not being able to walk on a leash properly and every dog left being able to walk on a leash properly as well as the PLACE command. It was such a great day and I feel fortunate to be able to share my information with dog owners.

Solid K9 Training offers board and train services for all breeds, and ages. Board and train is primarily for dog behavior modification because doing so, produces fantastically behaved obedient dogs. Solid K9 Training offers both private classes and Board and Train services for dog training and behavior modification. Solid K9 Training teaches basic obedience such as proper leash walking, sit, down and come to puppies (puppy development) and adult dogs alike.
As requested by many people, in this video I demonstrate the steps in teaching a dog to hold an object by shaping the behavior. Also, you can build on this and teach them to put their toys away in a basket. The trick is to break the task down into smaller components and train each of those independently to success.
Realizing that a complex behavior chain such as this can take several training sessions spread out over a period of days allows us to be patient & teach amazing things through positive reinforcement. The best part about this is that we create a dog that enjoys learning, and figures out on his/her own what we are trying to teach.

Off Leash K9 Training, Georgia is thrilled to bring world class, veteran owned, obedience training for every dog, regardless of age, breed or size, to Georgia.

We specialize in the same dog training methods used by military and law enforcement. Using techniques that encompass our core beliefs and philosophy of consistency, fairness and crystal clear communication that will allow your dog to be a well behaved member of society in any situation. We not only train your dog but we also train you to be a better handler which will help strengthen your bond by building your trust and communication.
What separates us from other dog trainers in the area is that in addition to teaching your dog commands, we give you an off leash dog that responds with military/law enforcement K9 speed and precision. We train all breeds with the goal of giving people the true enjoyment of a well behaved 4-legged family member!
Also, our lessons are all private, which means you and your dog get our undivided attention. As I always say, “I have NEVER seen a dog that impressed me in obedience that came from a group class.”
We have several package options including, but not limited to: puppy consultation (start your pup off on the right paw), private hourly basic and advanced obedience lessons, a two week board and train program that you get your pup back fully trained, and even therapy dog training.
But wait… How do you fix behavioral problems? We target the issues you are having while working through our obedience program. In our opinion, behavior cannot be modified without having complete trust and control of your dog. Behavioral modification and obedience go hand in hand. As you are working through our program, we will also be working on the specific issues you may be facing with your dog.
Our most popular package is the 2-Week Board and Train, this is usually booked for a month or two out, so please contact us before paying online or trying to schedule an appointment for this. This is where you drop off your dog, and 2-weeks later you pick up a dog that is flawless outside, off-leash, with distractions! This program provides a little bit of everything, including focuses on practical everyday obedience, manners, and socialization (dogs and people). Additionally, with our 2-week board and train program, we offer a free refresher classes for LIFE. If at anytime your dog starts to not do well on a command, you bring them back in and we do a refresher with you.

These exercises are for all dogs, as most dogs do not like to be handled. This video is the first in a series to come…
I am sorry about the big block of text at the beginning of the video, but it is because this exercise needs to be taken seriously, as if done wrong you can scare a dog, and a frightened dog will bite, as will any animal that is frightened.
If you are worried that your dog is too shy or frightened to work with, you can talk to an animal behaviorist first. Another game you can do is just tossing the dog treats, and feeding the dog his meals by dropping the kibble for the dog following you.

Before your dog can read, he has to learn the alphabet! Petplan’s Dr. Jules Benson interviews certified professional dog trainer, Nicole Larocco-Skeehan to learn the basic commands every dog should know. The three core commands introduced in this video – teaching your dog to come, how to sit and how to stay – are easy for both you and your dog to master. And it’s a good thing, too, since these three easy dog tricks will form the foundation of good behavior and more advanced training commands down the road. Need another reason to practice them? They can literally save your dog’s life!
How to Keep Your Dog Healthy. If you’re a dog owner, you surely want your pet to be healthy and to live a long and happy life. But you might sometimes do things that can potentially harm your canine companion without even realizing it. Here are some common mistakes people unintentionally make when it comes to taking care of their doggies.
Choosing the wrong collar 1:00
Leaving a dog alone in the car 3:08
Neglecting your dog’s teeth 4:15
Letting your dog eat everything 6:07
Bringing puppies to a dog park 7:47
Using physical punishment 8:13
Providing too little stimulation 9:48
Not securing your dog in the car 10:31
Yelling when your dog does something wrong 11:05
Skipping flea, tick, and worming treatment 11:28
Leaving harmful objects around 11:51
Neglecting breed-specific health issues 12:22
-There are several types of collars, and you need pick the one that best suits the needs and character of your pup, as well as a place to attach his license. Whether you’ve settled on a harness or gone for a collar, the second (and just as important!) step is making sure it’s the right size. If a collar or harness is too big, your pooch may escape.
-Dogs don’t sweat like people do, so they can overheat much faster than you’d think. And since they lack this crucial ability to cool themselves off, the consequences of staying in a locked car can turn out fatal.
-A dog’s teeth need to be cleaned just like people’s teeth do. Don’t use toothpastes and toothbrushes designed for people! There are special ones made just for dogs, and they’re pretty different from the human kinds.
-Never feed human food to your dog! It’s way too salty, too spicy, and too fatty for them. In fact, most dishes you eat are severely toxic for them.
-To start with, dogs can sometimes be passive carriers of diseases. Secondly, grown-up dogs, especially large ones, can be incredibly rough when playing and running around.
-Physical punishment doesn’t work and actually does the opposite of what you want – it makes your dog scared of you. Reward-based training is much more effective than physical discipline.
-Just like you, dogs need constant mental and physical stimulation-, especially working breeds, which is why regular walking is a must.
-If you don’t secure your dog in the car and you end up in an accident, your pet can get seriously injured or even killed.
-Dogs don’t understand “NO”, so it only freaks your dog out, especially if you’re ticked off about something that happened a while ago.
-Some people say you can take a break from flea, tick, and heartworm medicine in winter if you live in a cold climate, but you really should discuss it with your veterinarian.
-Dog-proof your house by putting away anything your pet can chew or swallow. Things like medications, screws and nails, magnets, coins, and batteries should never be within your pet’s reach.
-Always do your research before you get a pet so that you’ll know how to best take care of it and what problems to look out for.
