Dog Training: Distraction Training Great Dane Puppy at Parks, Recall, Heel, Sit, Stay

Greater Atlanta Area. This is Day 6 of Violet a 6-month-old Great Dane Puppy Ride & Train Program. Violet is with us for 14-days of training. She is picked-up each morning at her home and dropped off each evening to eat and sleep with her family. Her family can view her progress through daily videos. Coaching lessons are scheduled throughout this program in order to pass Violet’s training knowledge to her owners as quickly as possible. This allows “hands on” experience with the remote training equipment, problems discussed, and solutions determined.

In this video the handler and puppy are communicating using remote training system guidance, leash guidance, verbal cue, and non-verbal cues. Marker training is utilized. Petting and verbal praise are used abundantly. Commands: “Come”, “Stay”, “Sit”, “Place” and “Heel”. “Free” is the release command to go be a dog. Violet is beginning to work at distance on her 15 foot leash with recall and place command.

All of our programs represent a team effort amongst trainer, pet owners, and the pet. At the end of the program the pet owners have the same handling ability as the dog trainer. We describe this end goal as a success. As a dog trainer, I’m part of a family’s life for a brief period. My goal is to leave each encounter with a Happy Customer and a well-trained Happy Dog.
