How to Potty Train Puppy – Doggy Dan’s SPCA Endorsed Dog Training Video Program

How To Potty Train Puppy HERE – http://bit.ly/1L5GbeB
FOR ONLY $1!

For small breeds, owners with various disabilities and those living apartment type buildings puppy pad training is a tremendous benefit. If you have a place in your yard or outdoors for your dog to eliminate then this is not the best choice. Some dogs can even be trained to use a litter box after time with puppy pad training.
The Stuff you will need:

puupy pads
Baby gate
Snacks – treats for rewards
Leash
Non-carpeted area

Phase 1:
You want a place that’s fairly small and without carpet. Make this a permanent place – as a bathroom or laundry room is great – remember a puppy will need a routine/schedule. This area should be large enough that your dog has separate areas to potty, sleep and play.

Phase 2

Cover the entire floor of your training area with potty pads. Keep that routine for three days, take one pad away while leaving the others on the floor. Two days later, take away another pad. Continue to remove a pad every other day until one pad remains – this will slowly transition your puppy pad training dog to one pad while they learn bowl control.

Phase 3

Frerquent trips to the puppy pad must be made frequently as a pup . A puppy can only control his bladder one hour for every month of his age. Place him on a leash and walk to the puppy pad at intervals that match age ( ie 2 months old – go to the pad every 2 hours). . Say “go potty” and stand by for him to respond. If your dog eliminates on the pee pad, praise him enthusiastically and give him treats. If your dog has not relieved himself in five minutes, remove him from the pad and try again later.

Phase 4

You can actually use accidents to your advantage in your puppy pad training . Wipe up accidents with a paper towel and then Place the urine-soaked paper towel on the potty pad. The smell of urine will attract your dog to pee on the pad.

Phase 5

Each month you dog is free from accidents, Increase the size of the confinement area as a reward. You could add a hallway or additional rooms. If your dog starts having accidents, start the process over using a small confinement area.

Helpful Tips

Don’t use kitchens, bedrooms, playrooms, food storage pantries or near doors that you, your family or visitors use as a regular entrance.
Watch for signs that your dog has to potty, such as pacing and sniffing. Say “potty” and take him to the potty pad, recommends the Animal Humane Society.

Warnings

Remove collars before confining an unsupervised dog. If a collar gets caught on an object, your dog is at risk for injury or death by strangulation.
Never punish a dog for having an accident. This teaches the dog to potty when you’re not around.
Using potty pads to train a puppy prolongs the process of training to eliminate outside, according to the Humane Society of the United States.
